Moreson Mercator Chardonnay 2017
Moresons Medal Magnet Mercator Chardonnay receives twelve months in French Oak before bottling, then a further twelve months of maturation at the winery in bottle before release to the eagerly awaiting public. The wine is rich and buttery but with an elegance that is testament to the skills of winemaker Clayton Reabow. Skills recently noted for earning him the accolade of Diners Club Winemaker of the Year 2018, specifically for making this wine. Id always rather have two bottles of Mercator than just one of Montrachet or Meursault. And you can take that to the bank, along with all the money youll save buying this rather than French equivalents.
JANCISROBINSON.COM 16.5/20 Voluptuous, but elegant. Broad, strong oak statement across refined fruit. Gilded edges. Rolls across the palate. Smoke and apple, smoky clotted cream, butterscotch – but without the sweetness. Acid spine and ribs. (TC)
