Scions of Sinai, Swanesang, Stellenbosch, Syrah 2019
Bright, pure and focused acidity with great length and a long-lasting flavour. Very lovely granite tension. Some fresh white pepper spice with more focus on blackberry fruit, violets and black olive brine. Some rhubarb tart leesy-ness adding authenticity to a delicious yet complex cool climate Syrah. Lighter old world styled with length and some finely boned tannin concentration. Lovely subtle steminess from some whole cluster portion. Drink 2021 – 2029.
From a Maritime setting on decomposed granite, 4km from the South Atlantic. A rare find for Syrah in the Cape, not only so close to the ocean, but old-world styled bushvine trellised as well. Two clones interplanted, SH99 (Spice and tannin) and some 9C (Primary cultivar characters and acidity)
